Dynamic Transitional Droops for Seamless Line-Switching in Islanded Microgrids

Line-switching operations introduce several concerns to microgrid operators since they trigger reliability and power quality issues in addition increasing the wear tear cost of switching devices. This paper proposes a novel methodology for achieving seamless line-switching low-inertia islanded microgrids. The proposed aims at mitigating detrimental impacts by minimizing flow switched lines moments executing operations. minimization is realized optimizing droop control parameters DGs during transition from one network topology another. Besides, series operations, sequence also optimized minimize total power. While execution sequence, transitional droops are each operation within that sequence. A dynamic mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem formulated find both simultaneously. Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness where can be reduced more than 80% single 54% considering four switch exchanges instances zero-current switching. As result, significant decrease peak voltage transients has been recorded some cases.
